Dr. Mary Acunzo has been in private practice on Cape Cod since 1996, specializing in neuropsychological assessment of children, adolescents and adults. Her practice, Cape Cod Neuropsychology,LLC in Sandwich, MA is a well-recognized provider of neuropsychological services in Southeastern Massachusetts.
Dr. Acunzo conducts testing and psychotherapy with individuals who who present with an array of developmental, emotional, and neurological issues, such as:
- Attention regulation problems (such as ADHD, executive dysfunction)
- Anxiety and Mood Disorders (such as OCD, depression)
- Developmental learning disabilities (such as language-based, nonverbal learning disorder)
- Pervasive developmental disabilities (such as PDD, Aspergers)
- Autism
- Acquired injuries/illness (such as head injuries),
- Seizure disorders
- Tic disorders (such as Tourettes)
- Other neurological conditions
Cape Cod Neuropsychology also tests to determine learning style, possible giftedness, and provide IQ or other scores for private school entrance.
Dr. Acunzo is both thorough and effective, providing comprehensive evaluations for her clients. In addition to testing in the office, she will often spend time reviewing records; talking to teachers, physicians, and other professionals; and, as needed, observing her client in their classroom or other settings.
Assessment culminates in a report that includes diagnosis (if appropriate), strengths/compromises, and specific recommendations. This information is generally given in a feedback session (with ideas about strategies and interventions) with the client and/or parents.
Follow up meetings with schools or other professionals are optional and recommended. Dr. Acunzo & Cape Cod Neuropsychology can provide ongoing consultation and treatment to ensure all her clients' needs are met and realized. Specialized support and therapy sessions are dependent upon availability.
Dr. Mary Acunzo is also available to provide workshops & presentations in the areas of neuropsychological assessment and attention/learning/developmental disabilities. She routinely gives talks at SEPAC meetings, provides in-service workshops for teachers, and is an experienced radio and local TV personality.
